Outside the fogged up window, a single leaf fell from the topmost boughs of an old oak. It spun and twirled, looping through the air in great circular arcs, a ballet hidden in the sky. Below people walked past, fewer in number than they would be in a few months when the thick frost vanished from pavements and streets. Yet even with so few walking, not a single one bothered to cast their gaze upwards... If they had, they would have seen the last of the dancing leaves, it’s brethren long since buried beneath the snow as it clung stubbornly to it’s ancient branch.
